It's going to be a big year...

We're beyond thrilled to announce that we have THREE chapters who will be holding Gaylas this fall in San Francisco, New York City, and new for this year, Los Angeles. Alongside the three events our chapters are planning, we have carefully selected three incredible organizations to receive wayOUT funding. We are so excited to partner with these organizations. Here’s why:

Zebra Coalition in Orlando, FL - grant recipient for the Bay Area Gayla

Zebra Coalition uses an innovative coalition model that partners with over fifty community organizations to offer life-saving services for LGBTQ+ young people in Central Florida, including providing beds for homeless youth and bilingual counseling for a community that is largely made up of immigrants and people of color. Just a few blocks away from Pulse Nightclub, the site of the tragic shooting in 2016, Zebra Coalition supported the LGBTQ+ community of Orlando when they needed it most. Zebra Coalition is at a critical point in its next phase of growth, and wayOUT Bay Area is proud to help accelerate them on their path to even greater impact.

OUTMemphis in Memphis, TN - grant recipient for the Los Angeles Gayla

OUTMemphis was selected because of their legacy and innovation in fighting LGBTQ+ youth homelessness, their support for intersectional communities - including trans people of color, and their perseverance against the regressive, anti-LGBTQ+ laws being considered in Tennessee and the surrounding area.

JASMYN in Jacksonville, FL - grant recipient for the NYC Gayla

We chose JASMYN based on its incredible story, mission, and vision for supporting and empowering LGBTQ+ youth in Northeast Florida. JASMYN supports young people ages 13-23 and works to create a safer, more affirming community for them in Northeast Florida. They provide health and wholeness services, and offer youth development opportunities, while bringing people and resources together to promote equality and human rights.

The Bay Area Gayla supporting Zebra Coalition will be held on October 3rd in San Francisco (Buy your tickets - available now for the best price) - stay tuned for save-the-dates for NYC and LA.
