Five friends. One city. The first Gayla.
wayOUT started in San Francisco, when five friends decided to do something for LGBTQ+ youth growing up in places with far less support. The first Bay Area Gayla, in 2017, set a goal of $20,000 and raised over $100,000 for Magic City Acceptance Center in Birmingham, Alabama.
For six seasons the Bay Area set the bar every other chapter chased, including the 2019 night for Zebra Coalition: $128,000.
